Short Stories

Fall is here, finally.  The cool weather is quite refreshing.  I cannot believe we are starting the third six weeks.  This year is flying by.  A couple notes to all of the parents out there – please remind your student of two things:  1)  keep doing those reading journals and 2) limit the amount of chit-chat and talking that wastes valuable class time (check those conduct grades on report cards if you want to know if your student is one of the talkers).

We are winding up our short story unit – I think we’ve read some pretty great stories with this unit – and are  getting ready to focus on poetry.  Yay!  I love the poetry unit, and hopefully everyone else will, too.  We will not only be learning poetry terms and definitions, we will be reading and analyzing examples of several different types of poetry, writing poetry, and  listening to songs  If you’ve got any favorites, share them with me.
