The Tuscaloosa City School Board of Education approved a revised calendar for the 2012-2013 school year Tuesday night. The revision aligns the calendar with the requirements of the Flexible School Calendar Act recently passed by the Alabama Legislature. The move will add three instructional days by removing three previously scheduled off days in addition to adding eight minutes to each school day.
Superintendent Paul McKendrick said he felt this option provided the best opportunity for students to learn within the window provided by the law.
“What we are trying to do is make a calendar to take on the educational needs of our children,” said McKendrick. “We wanted a calendar to allow our staff to feel valued with the days off since we cannot provide any additional monetary compensation.”
Students will begin the 2012-2013 school year on August 20.

Parents and teachers:
I am collecting photos for the yearbook, and I need your help! If you have good pictures of any school-related events that you’d like to pass along to me, I would really appreciate it! Please email them to me at: mrsezellschool@gmail.com. I am especially interested in photos of our TMS students helping with comminuty service efforts after the April tornadoes.
Thanks so much,
Laura Ezell
